The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) has announced a new air ambulance service to serve the cities of Lancaster and Chester

The service will operate 24/7, providing emergency transport to any hospitals within a 100-mile (161-km) radius.

The program will operate under MUSC’s MEDUCARE service, and will employ a Bell 407GXi, registration N600MT. It will be run by a crew of one pilot, one trauma nurse, and one emergency medical services (EMS) specialist.

The program will provide both on-site critical care air ambulance services and inter-hospital transfers, and will work with both local EMS and fire services to respond to emergencies.

Fellow air medical provider MedCenter Air, which serves both North and South Carolina, featured as the subject of AirMed&Rescue’s March 2023 Provider Profile.
