New air medical base for Air Evac Lifeteam
The base will provide emergency air medical services in Kentucky
Air Evac Lifeteam (Air Evac) has announced its newest air medical transport base in Laurel County is now in service.
The base is situated in the city of London, Kentucky and will provide emergency air medical services to the London micropolitan area and the surrounding regions.
“We are proud to be increasing access to lifesaving air medical care in the region,” said Daniel Sweeza, President of Air Evac. “Our new London base will serve patients and customers in Laurel County and many surrounding counties, as well as provide backup to the company’s other bases in Eastern Kentucky.”
The base is staffed by highly trained and experienced pilots, flight nurses, and flight paramedics, and is maintained by on-site aviation maintenance technicians.
The Airbus H135 operated at this base is medically configured with the latest avionics and safety features.
“Our London base is the 19th operation to open in Kentucky,” explained Janie Ward, Regional Director for Air Evac. “This is also the first Air Evac base in the state to operate the Airbus H135 aircraft. This airframe will increase our capabilities for specialty care transports and our ability to operate in reduced visibility conditions because it is an instrument flight rules (IFR) asset. Having an IFR asset in the state will help to increase access to care because this aircraft will be able to provide coverage for our other operations during reduced visibility conditions.”
