New app trains healthcare professionals to use ventilators on Covid-19 patients
US-based healthcare company Smiths Medical has joined other ventilator manufacturers in the Ventilator Training Alliance (VTA) to support frontline medical providers during Covid-19
The content for the ventilator training can be found in a mobile app that is managed by Allego. The VTA app connects respiratory therapists, nurses and other medical professionals with ventilator training resources from alliance member companies. It includes how-to videos, manuals and troubleshooting guides critical to treating patients with Covid-19 related respiratory distress.
Ventilators play a critical role in the management of patients who require respiratory assistance due to a severe illness, such as Covid-19. Speed and ease of access to ventilator training could have a direct impact on patients’ health during the Covid-19 crisis.
Jeffrey Hohn, Vice-President at Smiths Medical, said: “Smiths Medical is proud to be a part of the VTA by providing training for our ventilators through the Allego app. Improving healthcare around the world is the foundation of our mission. During this critical time, we understand healthcare professionals need ventilator information quickly and the app enables the right care delivered to their patients, quickly.”
The app can be accessed on iOS and Android devices or from a web browser and comes in multiple languages.
