New Chairman appointed for County Air Ambulance Trust
The County Air Ambulance Trust has announced the appointment of Michael Henriques as its new Chairman.
The County Air Ambulance Trust, a UK air ambulance charity that focuses on funding hospital helipads through its HELP Appeal, has announced the appointment of Michael Henriques as its new Chairman.
Henriques comes to the charity after 22 years as Deputy Chairman of Cheltenham Racecourse and Jockey Club Member. He replaces Hugh Meynell, MBE, who founded the charity in 1993 and served as Chairman for 25 years. Over his years of service, the charity helped 10,000 landings take place at HELP Appeal-funded helipads. The service has a further 12 new helipads and upgrades planned for 2019.
“I am convinced from my own experience with horseracing, and sports in general that hospital helipads are lifesavers,” said Henriques. “I have seen jockeys being airlifted off racecourses, and I know that the speedy reception and admittance into emergency departments after landing on a hospital helipad is crucial and lifesaving — and certainly aids a speedy recovery from sustained injury. That is why I am excited to be appointed Chairman of the County Air Ambulance Trust and the HELP Appeal.”
