UH-60 blackhawk

The Military Police of Rio de Janeiro State (PMERJ) will utilize a UH-60 Black Hawk to enhance its operations, as part of a broader expansion of its capabilities

The aircraft can fly at speeds of 294km/h, and has a flight range of approximately 590km. It can carry up to 11 passengers, and four crew.

This marks the first time that a UH-60 has been used by a Brazilian state police force – previously, they were exclusively used by the Brazilian armed forces, which currently have 26 Black Hawks.

The announcement is part of a broader expansion of the PMERJ, which is also in the process of acquiring 214 new vehicles, and intends to  recruit an additional 2,000 officers in the coming years, according to a report by CNN Brasil.

Recoil Aerospace recently received US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval for the use of its aerial fire tank system with the UH-60 Black Hawk.
