New Mexico State Police acquires new Airbus H125
The helicopter will provide aerial law enforcement and search and rescue services across the US state of New Mexico
New Mexico State Police (NMSP) has purchased an Airbus H125 police helicopter from Davenport Aviation.
The rotorcraft is NMSP’s first purchase through Davenport, and will join NMSP’s existing Airbus H145 in supporting and expanding the police force’s aerial policing capabilities.
Alongside law enforcement, the H125 will also be used by NMSP to provide services such as search and rescue (SAR) and other lifesaving operations.
Davenport stated that the H125’s ability to perform in “high-altitude and high-temperature environments” makes it ideal for New Mexico’s varied and frequently arid terrain.
Prior to its entry into service, the helicopter will undergo completion and mission equipment integration, carried out by California-based firm Hangar One Avionics.
“The New Mexico State Police is excited to announce the planned purchase of an H125 helicopter from Davenport Aviation,” said NMSP Chief William T Weisler. “This investment represents our ongoing commitment to enhancing public safety and operational excellence throughout the state of New Mexico. We believe that acquiring this state-of-the-art aircraft will not only enhance our aviation capabilities, but also help us attract and recruit highly qualified pilots eager to join our dedicated special operations aircraft unit.”
Davenport Aviation also recently delivered the first of two new Airbus H125 helicopters to Erie County Sheriff’s Office in the state of New York.
