New police air base for Lower Austria
The government of the state of Lower Austria has announced the opening of a new police air base in the city of Wiener Neustadt
The base was officially opened at a ceremony on 9 September, and will serve as a replacement for a former base in Vienna-Meidling.
Johanna Mikl-Leitner, Governor of Lower Austria, welcomed the base’s opening, stating that the police aviation division was “an indispensable part of the blue and yellow security family”.
She added that they are “indispensable partners in many areas such as disaster control, alpine rescue, and civil protection”.
The Austrian government recently placed an order with Lockheed Martin for 12 UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters.
