New police drone for Burlington, Massachusetts
The town of Burlington, in the US state of Massachusetts, is looking to purchase a new drone worth $16,856
The new drone – a DJI Matrice 30T – will replace a six-year-old one acquired by the Burlington Police Department upon the formation of its Drone Unit in 2017.
The aircraft offers a number of benefits over the one it replaces – it offers improved all-weather flying capabilities, as well as 4K optical and thermal imaging cameras.
Funds for the new drone will be taken directly from the Burlington Police Chief’s operating budget.
The town’s drone unit operates a number of different mission types, including search and rescue, water tower inspections, missing person searches, and providing support to local firefighters.
The town of Skokie, Illinois, recently announced plans to acquire a DJI Matrice M300 in May of this year.
