New Yellowstone base for Air Methods

Air Methods Corporation, the air medical transport company based in Colorado, US, announced on 8 May that it will be operating a new Community-Based Services (CBS) air medical helicopter base in Yellowstone National Park in conjunction with Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. The Air Idaho Rescue programme will provide care to those in the Yellowstone area, as well as Grand Teton National Park, Gallatin National Forest and the Madison River valley, and will be in service 12 hours per day, seven days a week.

“We are very excited to have a base at America’s first national park,” said Chris Burns, regional vice-president of Air Methods, “and to bring our air medical resources to the residents and visitors of the greater Yellowstone region. A majority of the call volume is tourist-related within the park, and we are pleased to work with the National Park Service to provide care and transport for any ill or injured patient. We’re here to bring critical care to those in need.”
