The police department has placed orders for a new H160 helicopter and three H145s ‎with manufacturer Airbus

The order follows the acquisition of two other H145s by the New York State Police in ‎‎2024, and is part of a move by the department to phase out its existing fleet of aircraft.‎

Airbus said the delivery would make the New York State Police the first law enforcement ‎agency in the USA to add an H160 to its fleet.‎

The H160 offers cruise speeds of 255km/h with a maximum range of 890km with ‎standard fuel tanks, and a maximum endurance of 4h 30min. In standard seating ‎configuration, it can carry up to 12 passengers.‎

The H145 is a popular choice of helicopter for law enforcement operations, and has a ‎recommended cruise speed of 241km/h. With standard fuel tanks, it has a maximum ‎range of 650km, and maximum endurance of 3hrs 35mins.‎

Airbus recently unveiled its new H140 helicopter type at this year’s Verticon.‎
