Nigerian Police Forces equipped with tethered UAVs from Elistair
The drones will be used for homeland security, anti-crime and anti-terrorism missions
Elistair announced that it has equipped the Nigerian Police Forces with Orion uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) to assist in the reinforcement of their border security.
The tethered drones are deployed on a daily basis for missions related to homeland security, anti-crime and anti-terrorism.
The police have already successfully identified armed terrorist groups by discreetly observing and detecting threats over an area of several kilometers during 24-hour flights of the Orion UAVs.
A statement from the Nigerian Police said: “The drones assist the police in monitoring active crime scenes, coordinating response operations, and providing aerial support to responding officers.”
Drone technology is becoming increasingly popular in police operations, with the UK’s National Police Air Service exploring its use.
