Nine fatalities in air ambulance crash in Philippines
A Beechcraft B300 King Air 350 air ambulance with nine people onboard crashed into a tourist resort in Calamba City, Laguna Province in the Philippines on 1 September
There were no survivors of the aircraft, which was carrying two pilots, a doctor, three nurses, a patient and his wide and an emergency medical technician. They have been named as Captain Jesus Hernandez (pilot), First Officer Lino Cruz Jr. (copilot), Dr Garret Garcia, Kirk Eoin Badilla (nurse), Yamato Togawa (nurse), Ryx Gil Laput, Raymond Bulacja, New Zealander Tom Carr (patient) and Erma Carr (wife of patient).
The aircraft had picked up the patient from Dipolog City Airport and was reported to be on its way to Manila when the accident occurred. Two people were hurt on the ground as the aircraft crashed into the swimming pool of a Pansol tourist resort. Footage online shows the aircraft descending rapidly towards the ground with smoke coming from the engine.
