Nominees in the Defender Service Awards announced
Five US and Canadian SAR teams named in the Search, Rescue and Emergency Services category
Nominations for the Defender Service Awards have been announced, including in the Search, Rescue and Emergency Services category.
The five nominees are:
- Allegheny Mountain Rescue Group – Pittsburgh, PA
- Resources in Search and Rescue, Inc. – Monroe, CT
- Squamish Search and Rescue Society – Squamish, BC
- Taos Search and Rescue – Taos, NM
- TEXSAR (Texas Search and Rescue) – Wimberley, TX.
Raz Peel, President of Squamish SAR – the only Canadian team nominated – said: “We are thrilled to be named in the top five.”
Awarded by popular vote, the winning team will get to bring home a brand new customized Land Rover Defender in addition to a US$25,000 donation and many in-kind Pelican products valued at over $8,000. Voting ends on 4 October.
Peel added: “This vehicle would be an amazing asset for our team when responding to tasks.”
