The aircraft will join New South Wales Rural Fire Service’s fleet of service-owned Bell 412 aircraft currently operating in the Australian state

New South Wales Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS), a volunteer-based firefighting agency and statutory body of the government of New South Wales, has taken delivery of a new Bell 412 helicopter. The aircraft was flown over from the USA and arrived aboard a Royal Australian Air Force C-17 Globemaster.

The aircraft will soon be replacing one of the agency’s older BK117 helicopters, enabling faster response and the ability to carry more cargo and passengers. The multipurpose aircraft will be used to support firefighting operations, nighttime search and rescue activities, and airborne mapping responsibilities around the state.

In a social media statement, RFS commented: “We would like to thank Defence Australia and the Royal Australian Air Force for transporting our helicopter into the country, we are extremely proud of the strong relationship that exists between our organisations.”

Coulson Aviation recently announced a new, A$400-million dollar, 10-year contract with NSW RFS.
