Nurse celebrates milestone of 500 air ambulance flights

After 26 years of service, a St Luke’s Hospital nurse reaches 500 flights on LifeGuard Air Ambulance.
Fifty-three-year-old Bev Minear, who has been a nurse with UnityPoint Health St Luke’s Hospital for 26 years, works with critically ill patients. For over 10 years, she has flown LifeGuard Air Ambulance, caring for patients in life threatening situations and has now amassed 500 flights.
“It’s the best job. I feel privileged to be there in time of crisis,” she said. “People look for us to be the calm one in the storm.”
Speaking about Minear, Lifeguard manager Cathy Ross-Garron said: “She’s got a solid foundation of experience in critical care and that experience is paramount. She’d very intelligent, passionate and driven. Quality patient care is first on her radar.”
