OKCFD partners with Oklahoma National Guard for helicopter SAR team
The US-based Oklahoma City Fire Department has partnered with the Oklahoma National Guard to provide a helicopter search and rescue (SAR) team
The team started in 2017 and six of its members are from the Oklahoma City Fire Department; the other firefighters who make up the group are from Norman, Tulsa and Verdigris.
The firefighters are separated into two task forces, the OK-TF1 in the Oklahoma City metro and the OK-TG1 based in the Tulsa metro.
The team trains monthly with the army and are required to be part of the Oklahoma Task Force One. Some of the team’s recent deployments include the Tulsa flood of 2019 and during Hurricane Florence in 2018 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
