Oro Navigacija selects Frequentis
Frequentis will implement traffic management systems to support the operation of drones in Lithuania
Lithuanian Air Navigation Service Provider Oro Navigacija has contracted Frequentis to implement an Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management (UTM) system in its airspace.
The UTM will enable the ‘safe, efficient, and conformant introductions of drones … as drone use cases in the country grow’.
Frequentis will provide Oro Navigacija with a UTM suite that includes Common Information Services (CIS) functionality, enabling ‘real-time, shared situational awareness and information exchange’. The solution includes a cloud-based UTM Airspace Manager and UTM Operation Manager applications for both pilots and drone operators to ‘log, manage, and visualize all flight plans and requests’.
As part of the arrangement, the two organizations will use their respective expertise to integrate stakeholders – including emergency services – into the system.
Frequentis is also a participant in the European Union’s GOF 2.0 consortium, tasked with exploring ways to integrate drone operations into urban airspace.
