Penn State Health Milton S Hershey Medical Center to offer specialized training
The Center is now the third of its kind in the USA to offer specialized trauma and deployment skills training, joining HonorHealth in Scottsdale, Arizona, and Renown Health in Reno, Nevada
Penn State Health Milton S Hershey Medical Center is now the third Army National Guard Training Center in the USA – and the first on the east coast – to offer specialized trauma and deployment skills training.
Since 27 January, Air National Guard members have trained alongside its expert clinicians at Pennsylvania’s only Level I Trauma Center for both children and adults. Through the Hershey Trauma, Readiness, Education and Training Program, they’ve gained hands-on experience in real-world medical scenarios to prepare for emergency response and deployment.
Their recent training culminated in an intensive mass casualty simulation, where the Life Lion team played a vital role – landing on site to load and transport simulated patients, reinforcing the importance of air medical evacuation in emergency response.
The day concluded with a graduation ceremony honoring their achievements, joined by members of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard and state legislators.
Matthew Baily from Penn State Health Life Lion Critical Care recently spoke to the AirMed&Rescue team about what got him hooked on HEMS.
