Peru buys four Enstrom 280FX helicopters
Aircraft manufacturer Enstrom has announced the sale of four 280FX helicopters to the Peruvian military
Two of the rotorcraft will be used by the Peruvian Army, while the other two will go to the Peruvian Air Force. Both sets of helicopters will be used to supplement the two services’ respective training fleets.
According to Dennis Martin, Enstrom’s Chief Commercial Officer, key factors behind the purchase included the 280FX’s resistance to hot and high-altitude environments, as well as a strong existing relationship with the Peruvian Army.
“We’ve supplied the Peruvian Army with training helicopters since the 1990s,” explained Martin. However: “We’re proud to remain a trusted partner in helping train yet another generation of pilots.”
By contrast, the company relationship with the Peruvian Air Force is relatively new – Enstrom first supplied two helicopters to them in 2020, then a further two in 2022.
The sale of the four helicopters was facilitated by Panamerican Aviation Sales Corporation.
Enstrom previously announced the sale of two turbine-powered 480B helicopters to the Zambia Air Force in April 2023.
