Peruvian Air Force evacuate eight crash victims
A medically-equipped Peruvian Air Force Hercules aircraft has evacuated eight people who were injured in a bus crash to a higher level of care in Lima, the nation’s capital
Initially, the injured were taken either via road or in an air ambulance helicopter to hospitals in Villa el Salvador, San Borja, Dos de Mayo, Arzobispo Loayza, Hipolito Unanue and Casimiro Ulloa. Elizabeth Hinostroza, Minister of Health, explained that the transfer to Lima was effected to the patients’ need for complex surgery due to their serious injuries, hence the activation of the Air Force. “These patients needed surgical intervention,” she told local news crews. “They needed it immediately and the towns were they were being treated could not do so effectively. Therefore, an air ambulance transfer was necessary.”
