Phoenix Air wins 10-year air medical contract with US State Department
Phoenix Air, an aviation company based at the Cartersville-Bartow County Airport, has won a 10-year contract from the US State Department to provide air ambulance evacuations and short-notice flights for US diplomatic missions around the world
Although the company has long been a government contractor, carrying out work for the US Department of Defense and NATO, amongst others, the new $500-million contract will include rapid response to threats to US diplomatic missions, as well as air ambulance evacuations for those with severe infectious diseases, Phoenix Air explained.
In statement, Phoenix Air President Mark Thompson said: “The scope of this new contract with the Department of State represents a major expansion of tasks to respond to crisis requirements world-wide.”
Phoenix Air has office in the US, Germany, Malta and Kenya, with more than 40 aircraft stationed around the world. Its medical division has over 40 doctors, flight nurses and flight paramedics on call. US Rep. Barry Loudermilk decreed that Phoenix Air was ‘the gold standard when it comes to providing specialised aviation services’.
