While landing at Headland Airport in Alabama, a Survival Flight helicopter crashed on 24 December; it is believed the pilot, Douglas Davis, suffered a heart attack while at the controls. He later died in hospital.

The helicopter landed upside down not far away from the helipad. The crew of three had responded to call for medical assistance and were returning to the airport. Two of the other crewmembers suffered minor injuries in the accident.
