Rega acquires new helicopter flight simulator

Swiss air rescue service Rega has a new Reiser Simulation and Training (RST) helicopter full flight simulator (FFS)
The simulator incorporates interchangeable cockpits suitable for training on all of Rega’s helicopter types, including the Airbus H125 and H145, and the Leonardo AW169.
The simulator will be operated on behalf of Rega by Lufthansa Aviation Training (LAT), and will be based at LAT’s facility in Opfikon, Switzerland. The FFS was officially handed over to Rega on 16 November.
The simulator also be available via LAT for use by interested third parties. Rega jointly purchased the Airbus H125 module for the FFS with commercial helicopter operator Swiss Helicopter.
“Highly trained cockpit crews are fundamental for performing rescue flights safely and successfully,” said Heinz Leibundgut, Head of Helicopter Procedures and Training at Rega. “In the simulator, Rega’s cockpit crews – that is, pilots and paramedics – have the opportunity to efficiently train standard situations and emergency procedures that would hardly, if at all, be possible to practice in real life. Moreover, on doing so, they neither generate noise nor pollute the environment.”
