Rega has transported over 100 Covid-19 patients
Swiss rescue service Rega has been on over 100 missions to transport Covid-19 patients by helicopter or jet
On 11 March, Rega transported a Covid-19 patient for the first time. Since then, over 100 coronavirus patients have been transported by Rega crews within Switzerland and to other countries.
Although transporting infectious patients has always been part of Rega’s services, its crews were specifically trained for the pandemic in February. Most of the patients are being transported between hospitals and need to be artificially ventilated.
Due to lockdown measures in Switzerland, Rega is needed for accident response less at this time. However, the service is still utilized around 20 times a day.
