Rotortrade secures AW139 deal with Toll Aviation
The agreement will see Toll Aviation expand its Leonardo AW139 fleet as part of ongoing investment in rotary-wing capability
Rotortrade has signed a deal with Toll Aviation for the supply of two AW139 helicopters, with both aircraft set to undergo full inspection and refurbishment in France before entering service on existing Australian contracts.
The helicopters will be deployed in ongoing contracted operations and are expected to support continued demand for specialist aviation services, including search and rescue (SAR) and other public safety missions.
As part of the agreement, both aircraft will undergo four-year inspections at Rotortrade’s maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility in Tallard, France, ahead of delivery. The work is intended to ensure compliance with operational and safety standards required for contracted service use.
The deal was announced at RotorTech on the Gold Coast, a major rotorcraft industry event in the Asia-Pacific region that brings together operators, manufacturers, and suppliers. The timing underscores ongoing activity in the Australian helicopter market, particularly in utility and emergency aviation segments.
Scott Watkins, Senior Vice President at Toll Aviation, said the agreement forms part of wider investment in AW139 capabilities across Australia as demand for services increases and contract requirements evolve.
He commented: “Securing these aircraft is an important step in ensuring we can meet both the operational requirements of our contracts and a growing demand.”
Rotortrade executives said the agreement reflected continued engagement with Australian operators and highlighted the importance of established partnerships in supporting fleet renewal and life-cycle management.
The Leonardo AW139 is widely used in offshore transport, SAR, and emergency medical operations globally, and remains a key platform in medium twin-engine helicopter fleets across civil and government aviation sectors.
In addition, Rotortrade recently announced the completion of two AW119 helicopter transactions supporting the South African Red Cross Air Mercy Service’s (AMS) modernization program.
