Royal Malaysia Police helicopter assists areas cut off by floods
Food, water and other necessities have been delivered to help hundreds affected
The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) helicopter has played a key role in assisting areas impacted by severe flooding.
Four tonnes of food supplies – including rice, mineral water and sugar – were delivered to Kahang via air route, thanks to the helicopter.
Kluang District Police Chief ACP Bahrain Md Nor said the food supplies are for 660 workers in the Selai and Enggang palm oil plantations and 240 Orang Asli families in Sedohok and Pengkalan Tereh settlements.
He said: “The aid was sent using the Agusta Westland (AW139) helicopter operated by pilot Supt Mohd Fairuz Jamil and his assistant ASP Shahrizat Shahrudin from PDRM Air Operations Force.”
Additional food supplies for Orang Asli in the Peroh and Pucur settlements will be delivered via river route.
Helicopters have also been used to assist the response to flooding in Australia.
