San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department accepts Bell 412EPX from Hangar One
The aircraft is one of two 412EPXs ordered by the agency for search and rescue, firefighting, and patrol aircraft
First announced by Bell Helicopter on 27 February, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department took initial delivery of a new Subaru Bell 412EPX to add to the agency’s fleet.
Soon after Bell’s announcement, the 412EPX was delivered to Hangar One Avionics to be completed. The aircraft arrived on 9 April at San Barnardino International Airport in the US state of California.
The second 412EPX is currently being completed at the Hangar One facility in San Diego and is expected to be delivered in August.
The latest in the Bell medium fleet, the aircraft features an increased maximum internal weight of 12,200lbs, external weight of 13,000lbs, and the capacity to carry 5,000lbs using its cargo hook.
As reported by Bell, the 412EPX is equipped with a main rotor gearbox with dry run capability, enabling operators to benefit from increased horsepower to perform operations more efficiently.
California’s San Diego County Sheriff’s Department recently unveiled two new helicopters – a Bell 412EPX and a Bell 407GXi.
