Schiebel awarded new EMSA RPAS contract
The CAMCOPTER manufacturer has been awarded a new multi-year service contract by the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA)
The contract is for the service provision of remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS) using CAMCOPTER S-100 drones.
It will see Schiebel, through EMSA, continue to provide maritime surveillance and emission monitoring support to European Union (EU) member states for another four years.
It is the third contract from EMSA that has been awarded to Schiebel. The company received its first contract, to provide support to European coast guards and maritime authorities, in 2018. A second contract was granted in 2021.
Since 2018, the S-100 drone has been involved in over 1,780 deployment days with EMSA across Europe. As well as maritime surveillance and emission monitoring, Schiebel said the aircraft have also been used for search and rescue (SAR) and oil spill detection missions.

Schiebel announced the opening of a new facility in France last year.
