Sikorsky awarded US Navy contract
The contract includes an order for eight King Stallion helicopters for use by the government of Israel
Sikorsky has received a contract worth $2.7 billion from the US Navy to build 35 CH-53K King Stallion helicopters.
The agreement includes 12 Marine Corps Lot 7 and 15 Marine Corps Lot 8 aircraft, as well as eight rotorcraft for the Israeli government.
The company – a subsidiary of Lockheed Martin – will begin deliveries of the new aircraft in 2026.
Sikorsky previously announced that it would produce nine CH-53Ks for the US Navy in February 2022.
The CH-53K – also known as the Sikorsky S-95 – is the latest edition of the CH-53 series of aircraft. It is powered by three T408-GE-400 turboshaft engines, and is capable of cruise speeds of 315 km/h. Additionally, it is certified to carry external weights of up to 36,000lb (16,329kg).
