Sikorsky to integrate MATRIX autonomy into BETA MV250 hybrid VTOL
The collaboration will see Sikorsky's MATRIX autonomy suite integrated into BETA Technologies’ MV250 hybrid VTOL as flight testing advances uncrewed defense logistics capabilities
US-based Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company, will integrate its MATRIX autonomous flight system into US manufacturer BETA Technologies’ ALIA MV250 hybrid vertical take-off and landing (hVTOL) aircraft, expanding the range of aircraft compatible with the autonomy suite.
The companies reached an agreement earlier this month, with Sikorsky reporting that MATRIX was integrated into BETA’s CX300 conventional take-off and landing aircraft within two weeks. The successful flight trials have paved the way for development on the MV250, which shares the ALIA family’s common flight control architecture.
According to both companies, ongoing flight testing will focus on expanding the flight envelope and validating the performance of the MATRIX autonomy suite alongside BETA’s flight control system.
The MV250 is being developed for uncrewed logistics missions, including contested resupply and casualty evacuation (casevac). MATRIX is designed to support advanced autonomous operations across both rotary- and fixed-wing aircraft.
Sikorsky said MATRIX has accumulated more than 1,000 flight hours across more than 20 aircraft platforms since its development, supporting both military and civil applications.
