Sky Power introduces new starter generator control
The German engine manufacturer Sky Power GmbH has introduced a new generator control system for its own engine family, as well as for third-party engines
The SGC 352 Starter Generator Control unit can be used for engines with fuel injection, as well as for engines with carburetors.
"Our new Starter Generator Control SGC 352 is equipped with an advanced brushless motor speed control. Communication with the engine is via hall effect sensors. Furthermore, the SGC 352 Starter Generator Control unit is lighter than comparable systems on the market," explained Karsten Schudt, Managing Director of Sky Power GmbH.
Successfully used in the field
The SGC 352 can not only be used to start the combustion engine, but also during generator mode for battery charging. In this case, the control system not only takes over the phase current control, but also the battery current and speed control.
The new control system has already been successfully used in the field in several projects. Motors of the SP-210 and SP-275 series were equipped with the new control unit, including some heavy fuel (HF) applications.
"Furthermore, the system can also be used with third-party systems," Schudt added.
Further applications in other engine series of Sky Power GmbH are planned. The new hybrid engine, based on the SP-55, which will be introduced in the coming weeks, will also be equipped with the new control system.
In February, the manufacturer introduced a new Heavy Fuel (HF) engine, which marked the beginning of the subsequent development of HF engines based on new HF technology.
