SkyDrive has signed a letter of intent with 7A Drones for the supply of 10 electric aircraft to support emergency air medical services in the Penghu Islands

Electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) manufacturer SkyDrive has announced the signing of a letter of intent to sell 10 of its SkyDrive Model SD-05 aircraft to Taiwanese firm 7A Drones.

The agreement supports plans being developed by SkyDrive, 7A Drones, and Taiwan’s Industrial Technology Research Institute, to operate emergency air medical services using eVTOLs between the islands of the Penghu archipelago, in the Taiwan Strait.

The routes will radiate from Magong City, located on Penghu’s largest island, to various smaller islands within a 10km radius. The first route due for implementation will be between Magong City and Hujing Island.

The order will see one SkyDrive eVTOL delivered to 7A Drones in 2028, four more in 2029, and the remaining five delivered at a later date.

“We are delighted that 7A Drones, our business partner in Taiwan, has signed this letter of intent for the purchase of SkyDrive aircraft,” said Tomohiro Fukuzawa, Founder and CEO of SkyDrive. “As our first letter of intent in the Asian market, this agreement marks a significant milestone in the expansion of SkyDrive’s overseas businesses.”

He added: “We are particularly pleased to announce a first concrete expansion into the medical sector with joint proposals for emergency medical routes in the Penghu Islands. By leveraging the fast response and stable operation of eVTOL aircraft to address the transport challenges faced by island communities, we can help build a more robust medical infrastructure.”
