SKYTRAC Satellite Data Unit selected by Southeast Aerospace as part of Hawker 800 aircraft upgrade

The DL150 Unit will be an optional part of the new InSight upgrade Supplemental Type Certificate
SKYTRAC, a global aerospace intelligent connectivity and satellite communications (satcom) company, confirmed that its DL150 Satellite Data Unit (SDU) has been selected by Southeast Aerospace as an optional part of their new InSight upgrade Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) supporting Hawker 800 series aircraft.
It incorporates the DL150 SDU to meet requirements for global Future Air Navigation System (FANS 1/A+) and long-range FANS 1/A+ oceanic connectivity, supported by the Iridium NEXT satellite network. It is expected to receive final FAA certification in early 2023.
The Southeast Aerospace upgrade program enhances both the value and operational flight profile of Hawker 800 (A)(B)(XP) series aircraft through significant cockpit upgrades, ensuring continued global operation long into the future.
“The Hawker 800s have been mostly left alone from major retrofits across their whole lifespan,” said Luke Gomoll, Aircraft Modifications Expert at Southeast Aerospace. “The upgrade enables the flight crew the use of digital departure clearances and takes advantage of the FANS 1/A+ tracks in oceanic airspace, directly translating into reduced time in the air and a reduction of the overall operating costs of the aircraft.”
Ray Larkin, Executive Aviation at SKYTRAC, said: “We are pleased to be working with Southeast Aerospace, incorporating our DL150 Satellite Data Unit as an optional capability in this upgrade package. It is fulfilling to participate with such a highly respected MRO and adding to the operational reach of the in-service Hawker 800 fleet.”
Earlier this year, SKYTRAC acquired the assets of Troo Corporation’s aviation division.
