Slovenia orders six AW139Ms
The government of Slovenia has announced the purchase of six AW139M multi-role helicopters from Leonardo
The purchase, facilitated by the Italian government, was agreed at a meeting between Slovenian Minister of Defense Marjan Šarec and Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto on 28 November.
The aircraft, which will cost approximately €188.3 million, excluding tax, will be used by the Slovenian armed forces for a range of operations, including search and rescue (SAR) and emergency medical evacuation (medevac).
The aircraft are capable of carrying up to 2,000 liters of water to support aerial firefighting operations.
No timeline for delivery was announced – the government of Slovenia stated that it expects to confirm a date ‘early next year’.
The local government of Monroe County, Florida, also placed an order for three AW139s in October of this year.
