The government of Slovenia has ordered four AT-802F Fire Boss fixed-wing aircraft from manufacturer Air Tractor
The aircraft will be used by the Slovenian Civil Protection Service (CPS) to support aerial firefighting operations.
The first two aircraft are scheduled for delivery in June of this year, with the remaining two due to arrive in 2024.
The purchases were prompted by extreme wildfires in the country’s Karst region last summer, which burned an approximate area of around 3,500 hectares.
The single-engine turboprop planes are powered by Pratt & Whitney PT-6A engines, and can carry over 3,000L of water at a time.
US firefighting operator Dauntless Air operates a fleet of 15 Fire Bosses. Jesse Weaver, Dauntless’s Director of Operations, spoke about this aircraft in-depth in January 2023’s Provider Profile.
