Smith Myers unveils its integrated SAR training simulator at Paris Air Show 2025
The integration allows SAR operators to train using realistic handset detection, augmented reality mapping, and automated sensor cueing
Smith Myers showcased a fully integrated airborne mission simulation system at the Paris Air Show 2025, in collaboration with training provider JD2E, situational awareness specialist CarteNav, and sensor manufacturer Teledyne FLIR.
The demonstration centered around JD2E’s Deployable Mission Operator Station (DMOS), a mobile, multi-role simulation platform used to train aircrew across a variety of operational environments. Designed for realism and flexibility, DMOS integrates key technologies to replicate mission scenarios including search and rescue (SAR), border surveillance, maritime patrol, and disaster relief.
Featured in the system is Smith Myers’ ARTEMIS mobile phone detection and geolocation solution, CarteNav’s AIMS-ISR mission management software, and Teledyne FLIR’s Star SAFIRE airborne sensor range. The integration allows SAR operators to train using realistic handset detection, augmented reality mapping, and automated sensor cueing.

The Paris demonstration highlights real-world SAR applications, with integrated handset detection, visual confirmation and mission data fusion – providing crews with the tools and training required to operate effectively in complex, time-critical environments.
Smith Myers has partnered with AgustaWestland Aviation Services to bring its ARTEMIS system to operators in the MENA region.
