Spanish C295 maritime aircraft to be equipped with Centum's Lifeseeker
Airbus has signed a contract to integrate Centum’s Lifeseeker into C295 maritime surveillance aircraft for Spain
Centum has secured a contract with Airbus Defence and Space to provide its Lifeseeker SAR XL system for integration into the C295 Maritime Surveillance Aircraft (MSA/VIGMA) fleet ordered by the Spanish Ministry of Defence.
Lifeseeker is a mobile-phone geolocation system designed to aid in search and rescue (SAR) operations by locating individuals even in areas lacking mobile coverage. Its deployment on the C295 MSA/VIGMA is expected to support SAR efforts by improving response time and situational awareness – key requirements in both maritime and overland operations.
The C295 MSA/VIGMA platform is being configured for a range of missions, including maritime surveillance, anti-smuggling, illegal migration control, counter-narcotics, and national and international SAR operations.
“The integration of Lifeseeker into the C295 under the VIGMA program marks a significant step forward in the platform’s maritime surveillance capabilities,” said Javier Chamorro, Executive President of Centum. “It also opens new opportunities to bring the system to many other C295 end users around the world.”
The announcement was made at FEINDEF, Spain’s primary defense and security exhibition, highlighting the ongoing partnership between Airbus and Centum.
Centum recently partnered with Helisul to strengthen its global expansion strategy.
