Sydney Seaplanes plans air taxi services
The transport operator has placed an order for 50 eVTOLs with partner Eve Urban Mobility
Australia’s Sydney Seaplanes has partnered with Eve Urban Mobility to commence electric air taxi services in the Greater Sydney area.
As part of the agreement, Sydney Seaplanes has placed an initial order with Eve for 50 electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, to be delivered in batches from 2026.
In return, Eve will support the partnership by offering comprehensive support for the planned transport network, including air traffic management solutions, maintenance, training, and other services.
Aaron Shaw, CEO of Sydney Seaplanes, commented: “Eve’s eVTOL technology will integrate seamlessly with our electric amphibious fleet to deliver a range of tourism and commuter journeys.”
“Subject to community consultation, we expect some flights will operate from our iconic Rose Bay aviation terminal in Sydney Harbour. This service will have widespread appeal which will allow us to open new routes beyond the Harbour and throughout the greater Sydney region,” he added.
It follows an announcement in late November by fellow eVTOL developer Volocopter and mobility provider Kakao Mobility that they would explore the feasability of launching similar air taxi services in South Korea by 2025.
