TAAS appoints new Chief Executive
Peta Wilkinson takes on the role as the charity celebrates its 20th birthday
The Air Ambulance Service (TAAS), has appointed Peta Wilkinson as its new Chief Executive. The charity, which operates the UK-wide The Children’s Air Ambulance service, as well as various regional air ambulance services in England, said that the move would ‘ensure the continued development and growth of the charity’ as it marks its 20th year of operations.
TAAS said that Wilkinson ‘joins the charity at an exciting time’, as the organization implements a five year strategy ‘designed to continually advance rapid response and critical care services for patients, while growing the awareness and support required to deliver pre-hospital emergency care’.
Wilkinson has over 25 years of experience as a CEO and board member in the healthcare and not-for-profit sectors, and has served in leadership roles at a range of institutions including the Willen Hospice, Enham Trust, Uttlesfield Primary Care Trust and the Terrence Higgins Trust. She has also served as a trustee of palliative care charity Sue Ryder.
“I have spent my working life in healthcare and the voluntary sector and am very honoured to be a part of TAAS’ future given the important role the charity provides in the delivery of critical care and enhancing patient outcomes,” said Wilkinson.
Professor Bob Allison, TAAS’s Chair of Trustees, added: “We are delighted that Peta is joining us. Her success in past roles, impressive leadership experience, her understanding of the challenges and opportunities at The Air Ambulance Service, and her commitment to our values will ensure the charity continues to go from strength to strength.”
The Children’s Air Ambulance recently opened a new base in Gamston, Nottinghamshire, in April.
