The New Zealand rescue service is commonly seen at Whakatane Hospital
The long weekend in New Zealand was a significant one for the TECT Rescue Helicopter.
On 21 October, it was dispatched near Manukau Heads for a woman who had fallen and sustained serious injuries. The patient was stabilised at the scene and taken to Middlemore Hospital via helicopter for further treatment. Later that evening, the rescue helicopter flew to Katikati, where a man in his 60s had suffered a cardiac event. He was flown to Waikato Hospital.
The following day, a man in his 80s was transported from Tauranga Hospital to Waikato Hospital for treatment after a critical medical event.
In the early hours of Sunday morning, the TECT Rescue Helicopter was called to Whakatane Hospital to transport a man suffering a critical medical event to Waikato Hospital for additional treatment.
On the final day of the long weekend, the helicopter was used to transport a teenage female having pregnancy difficulties. She was taken from Opotiki to Waikato Hospital with her partner.
