Teledyne FLIR to supply helicopter upgrades to US Coast Guard
Teledyne FLIR Defense has been awarded a US$74 million contract to modernize US Coast Guard (USCG) surveillance systems
The five-year indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract will see the company – part of Teledyne Technologies – deliver over 125 Electro-optic Sensor System-Modernized (ESS-M) units for use on USCG MH-60 and MH-65 helicopters.
Deliveries of the units will begin in the fourth quarter of this year (Q4 2025).
The ESS-M platform features a full-HD sensor suite and updated user interfaces, as well as advanced processing capabilities and various software enhancements.
The systems will provide USCG crew with high-definition daylight, low-light, and infrared imagery, and will support various mission types including search and rescue (SAR), living marine resources, and law enforcement.
The Japan Self-Defense Force (JSDF) received a set of multi-spectrum imaging systems from Teledyne FLIR in September.
