Three more NH90s for the Royal Netherlands Air Force
The helicopters join the Air Force’s already expansive fleet of NH90s, which are used for a range of operation types, including disaster relief and medical evacuation
The Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) will acquire three additional NH90 NATO Frigate Helicopters (NFHs), following the signing of a contract between the NATO Helicopter Management Agency (NAHEMA) and NHIndustries.
The three new rotorcraft join a fleet of 19 of the same type already operated by the Air Force.
“The three additional NFH aircraft will be assembled by Leonardo in Italy and delivered already embedding the latest Block 1 features, also known as Software Release 3 (SWR3), including the most advanced technologies such as the Data Link 22, next-generation electro-optical system, new integrated sonics, and additional weaponry,” said Cristian Naso, Managing Director of NHI.
NHIndustries is a joint venture of Airbus, Leonardo, and GKN Fokker.
The RNLAF has operated NH90 helicopters since 1999, using them for a broad range of operations. Alongside naval roles such as anti-submarine warfare and anti-surface warfare, they are also used for transport, disaster relief, medical evacuation, maritime surveillance, and special operations.
France received the last of a batch of NH90 helicopters earlier this year.
