A TriState CareFlight helicopter crashed in New Mexico on 17 July, resulting in the deaths of the pilot and two crew members onboard. The accident occurred at around 02:30 hrs in a remote area in the east of Guadalupe County. The aircraft had departed from Christus St Vincent Regional Medical Center in Santa Fe and was en route to pick up a patient in Tucumcari.

TriState CareFlight called the New Mexico State Police after contact with the helicopter was lost. Police officers were dispatched to the last known location provided by TriState CareFlight, and the police also contacted the landowner to ask for assistance. One of the landowner’s employees found the aircraft ‘on the side of a rocky mountain, fully engulfed in flames’, said the police.
