TVU Networks delivers mission-critical aerial video for Spain

TVU Networks, a global live video solutions provider, has partnered with Europavia to deliver reliable live aerial transmission for a Spanish government agency, following successful helicopter flight trials.

The project focused on integrating TVU One with external antennas into a helicopter, with Europavia handling all necessary aviation certifications. To validate the system, the teams conducted demanding flight trials across challenging environments. Initial missions over the Canary Islands tested connectivity across long stretches of open water, while later trials in Madrid challenged the system in one of Europe’s most congested cellular landscapes. Even during climbs to 3,300ft, TVU One maintained consistent transmission where conventional systems would have failed.

“For government and enterprise applications, live video transmission isn’t optional, it’s mission-critical,” said Rafael Castillo, Vice President for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Latin America at TVU Networks. “This project is a clear example of how TVU technology ensures the highest level of transmission security. Delivering consistent, secure performance even in challenging aerial environments is fundamental to the success of implementations like this one.”

The agency selected TVU Networks for its proven performance under real-world conditions. The contract includes 18 TVU One transmitters and five TVU Transceivers, creating a platform for live video in critical operations.

The deployment highlights practical applications for public safety, surveillance, and other special mission operations, demonstrating how IP-based aerial transmission can provide secure, real-time video support for government and enterprise tasks.

The Spanish Ministry of Defense recently ordered 100 Airbus helicopters.
