Two new H145s for RAF Akrotiri, Cyprus
The aircraft will be used to provide a range of emergency response and military operations in Cyprus
The UK’s Royal Air Force (RAF) has announced the delivery of two new Airbus H145 ‘Jupiter’ helicopters to 84 Squadron, based at RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus.
The helicopters are part of a six-helicopter contract signed in April 2024, and will be used for tasks such as emergency response, aerial firefighting, troop transport, medical evacuation, and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) in Cyprus and Brunei.
Four aircraft have now been delivered – two in Cyprus, and two in Brunei – with the final two due for delivery by the end of July.
They replace a fleet of Puma HC2s which previously served in that role.
“Two years from contract signature to aircraft on the ground in Cyprus is a proud achievement for all involved,” said Mark Langrill, Director, Rotary Wing and Uncrewed Air Systems, at the National Armaments Director (NAD) Group.
