The status of crew members is unknown and being investigated

Two US Army HH-60 Black Hawk helicopters operated by the 101st Airborne Division have collided during a routine training mission in Kentucky at 10pm local time on 29 March.

They flew out of the Fort Campbell Army base and crashed in Trigg County, Kentucky, according to a statement from the base.

The status of the crew members is currently unknown and is being investigated. However, in a tweet, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said: ‘fatalities are expected’.

His whole post read: “We’ve got some tough news out of Fort Campbell, with early reports of a helicopter crash and fatalities are expected. @kystatepolice (Kentucky State Police), @KentuckyEM (Kentucky Emergency Management) and local officials are responding. We will share more information as available. Please pray for all those affected.”

The base added: “The command is currently focused on caring for the service members and their families. The incident is under investigation.”
