UAVaid and Archangel Imaging sign MoU
The agreement will enable UAVaid to integrate Archangel’s AI technology into its drones to improve navigation and aerial camera image analysis capabilities
UAVaid, which develops drone technology for use in tasks such as the delivery of medical supplies and humanitarian aid, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with artificial intelligence (AI) specialist Archangel Imaging.
The strategic partnership will enable the integration Archangel’s advanced AI capabilities into UAVaid’s unmanned aircraft, in support of the aircraft’s navigation systems and onboard aerial camera image analysis.
It is hoped that the technology will enable faster identification and initial response times to ‘large scale natural disasters such as floods and wildfires’, and ‘improved accuracy of aerial surveillance to support anti-poaching and environmental protection’ efforts.
UAVaid commercial lead, Daniel Ronen, said “we are delighted to further extend our relationship with Archangel Imaging. This agreement follows our recent deployment in West Africa, where we identified numerous use-cases where this direction of technology development could be of potentially game-changing value to the welfare of remote communities and environment, particularly in mitigating the impact of climate change.”
UAVaid completed its first medical drone delivery in Sierra Leone on 19 November, in collaboration with the Sierra Leone Directorate of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI).
