Police were called in overnight to protect a £6 million air ambulance helicopter stranded in a field near Grimsby, UK

The Lincs and Notts air ambulance (LNAA), was left overnight for three days after breaking down. The £6 million helicopter had been responding to an accident and landed in a field on the A46 Grimsby Road nearby.

But after the patient, believed to be a pedestrian struck by a car, was taken to hospital by land ambulance, the helicopter suffered a technical problem when it tried to return to its base near Lincoln.

After three days, the helicopter could be moved, according to a tweet by the air ambulance service: “Thanks to fantastic teamwork at LNAA and with our partners, we’re delighted to have our Ambucopter safely back at base.”

Recently, LNAA has taken possession of its new Headquarters based on A15 Sleaford Road, in Lincoln.
