Unicair announces closure of its UK site
The Birmingham Airport office was owned by Air Alliance Medflight before the merger
Unicair, recently formed from the merger of Air Alliance and Jetcall, has announced its decision to close its UK office at Birmingham Airport.
The office is the base of operations for Air Alliance’s UK subsidiary Air Alliance Medflight, incorporated in March 2016.
According to Unicair, the last flight from Birmingham was completed earlier this month, with the company expecting to completely shut down operations at the site soon.
Unicair has stated that it will continue to work alongside all of its existing clients to provide a seamless and high-quality air ambulance service to the UK market.
“Unicair has taken the difficult decision to close the UK office” said Rene Petersen, Managing Director at Unicair (formerly Air Alliance). “Brexit and the UK’s withdrawal from EASA has made the continuation of based operations in Birmingham more complex and so we are concentrating on developing our German bases following our recent merger.”
“I’d like to take the opportunity to thank the team, led by Jane Topliss, for their support and the high-quality work that they have provided over the years. They have helped to develop what is now the Unicair brand and we wish them all the best in the future,” Petersen added.
