US Army orders six more Block II CH-47F Chinooks
The new contract increases the number of Block II Chinooks currently under contract with Boeing to 24 aircraft
The US Army has awarded Boeing a US$324 million contract for six CH-47F Block II Chinooks.
The order increases the number of Block II Chinooks under contract to 24 aircraft.
The Lot 6 agreement follows two other awards last year, including the first contract as part of the Army’s Rapid Fielding decision.
Boeing has so far delivered six CH-47F Block II rotorcraft to the US Army, which is preparing to launch operations using them no later than mid-2028.
The Chinook is the US Army’s only heavy-lift cargo helicopter. It supports both combat operations and secondary mission types such as medical evacuation (medevac), search and rescue (SAR), disaster relief, and parachute drops.
“Consistent production awards reflect the Army’s confidence in the CH-47F Block II as a critical capability for handling logistics in challenging environments across different domains and in varying operations,” said Heather McBryan, Vice President and Program Manager, Cargo Programs, for Boeing Defense, Space & Security. “Block II Chinooks provide commanders greater operational reach, faster resupply, and enhanced protection for forces operating in austere and contested environments.”
